I was born and raised in Northeastern Kentucky.  My maiden name is Wilburn, my mom's maiden name was Pope.  Her mother AND mother-in-law were McDowells (distant cousins it appears).  I have traced my McDowell relations back to John McDowell and Sarah Withrow/Witherow.  She was from Pennsylvania from mid 1700s, he was from Virginia mid 1700s.  Trying clarify who this John McDowell's parents were.  I have hit a brick wall.  Managed to gain entrance to DAR through my Wilburn side, but would also like to confirm John McDowell's father and mother so this can possibly with submitted to DAR for Patriot confirmation.  Been doing family research for many years.  Finding lots of conflicting information on line who my ggggggg grandfather McDowell was married to.  I believe it was Sarah Withrow.  But also trying to verify who this John McDowell's parents were.  John and Sarah's marriage certificate
