I was born and raised in Sweet Home, Oregon, where my grandfather, Gilbert Benjamin Withrow, Sr. settled from Oklahoma following his service in World War II.  My father and his sisters still live in and around Sweet Home, making them the first children in our line to settle in the same place their parents did.  My sister also still lives in Sweet Home, making her a unique third-generation-in-one-place Withrow, at least in our particular branch.  My brother and I have the Scots-Irish wanderlust, we have lived just about everywhere.  I'm in the Tampa Bay area now, he's in Seattle.  I am a completely amateur genealogist, but I do have a masters degree in History, so I am comfortable researching the family history, especially as it pertains to a larger historical event, such as the Ulster Plantation or American Revolution.
